IV Cannulation
This practical workshop will provide participants with valuable skills and knowledge to prepare them for undertaking IV Cannulation competence in their workplace. At the completion of the workshop, participants will have their cannulation competency individually assessed on a cannulation 'model' arm.

- Review anatomy & physiology of veins/arteries
- Client preparation & education
- IV cannulation site selection
- Special precautions & safety considerations
- Cannula selection
- Safe use of local anaesthetic & infection control issues
- IV cannulation procedure
- Complications related to the procedure &/or site
- Competency assessment on a simulation 'model' arm
- Self Directed Learning Package (sent prior to the workshop)
