Paediatric Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support
This Paediatric BLS/ALS Course is coordinated by highly qualified, experienced facilitators and utilises workstations to assist the integration of theory into practice.
The information presented in the HCTS Paediatric BLS/ALS Course is consistent with both the Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) guidelines.
In addition, the information in the course is also consistent with the Australian College of Critical Care Nurses Ltd (ACCCN Ltd) Paediatric Advanced Life Support Curriculum Guide.

- Bag-valve-mask device

- Rhythm Recognition
- Sinus rhythm (age appropriate rates)
- Sinus bradycardia (age appropriate rates)
- Sinus tachycardia (age appropriate rates)
- Ventricular tachycardia
- Ventricular fibrillation
- Asystole
- Defibrillation
- Emergency Drug Therapy
- Intravenous access (peripheral & central)
- Intraosseous access
- Drugs (Adrenaline, Fluid replacement, Glucose, Antiarrhythmics and other emergency drugs - Atropine, Sodium Bicarbonate Magnesium, Calcium & Potassium will be discussed)
